The Farm at Holly Hill

No winter lasts forever, but this one sure is taking its sweet time to leave. The farm is muddy. I have worn all my cute winter outfits. I’m over it.

This spring is going to be a whirlwind though.

As a family, we decided to name the property The Farm at Holly Hill. We always call it “the farm” and we have several beautiful holly trees, so it just seemed fitting. And a logo is in the works. (Insert your favorite excited meme! My favorite is the little girl with the cute face. Know what I am talking about?)

Also, Lynn Bauer, from Fern Valley Farm in Bristol, graciously agreed to visit our farm. If you haven’t been to Fern Valley, you need to visit. They have family days, farm to table dinners, cooking classes and so much more. I’m hoping she will be my farm mentor because she has so many ideas and actually gets them done.

Lynn Bauer from Fern Valley Farm gave us great ideas for this year.

Luckily, she listened to our concepts and gave us so much encouragement on how to actually implement them.

Be on the lookout for opportunities to come to our farm for yoga and flower picking. The flower garden is my personal project. As you know, I don’t have a green thumb, but I have had several people tell me I can handle a sunflower and lavender garden. I don’t want to prove them wrong, but I kill a lot of plants.

Michael is gearing up for the vegetable garden. His seeds just came in the mail, and it was like Christmas. (Insert another excited meme. My other favorite is Jonah Hill screaming with his hands on his cheeks.) We want to get goats and chickens in a few months. The coop and fences need a little work though.

Rocky has been settling in nicely with Peaches and Snoop.

Wise Peaches showing Rocky the ropes.

Rocky would rather snuggle.

Peaches has been hunting like crazy. She left one of her kills in Snoops pen. They have a weird relationship. Bailey is still the leader of the pack.

Bailey still rules the pack.

Every night she helps bring the animals up to the barn for feeding. When I was going back to the house one night I heard her up in the woods. I called her. She didn’t come. I called her again. Just a lot of big rustling noises. Michael opened up the back door and said, “Why are you yelling for Bailey? She’s already inside.”

Yikes! What was that big rustling in the woods? I know one day I will see a bear. Maybe this spring – if it ever comes.
